Mobile theft racket busted; 2 held

Golaghat police with the assistance of Chungajan Police have arrested two mobile thieves on the night of 3rd September. The arrested were identified as Tridip Kalita (24) and Anil Sutradhar (22) both hailing from Rupjyoti Nagar and Tetelitol area of Golaghat respectively. Police have seized 30 mobile handsets of Samsung Company from the duo. It is to be mentioned that on the night of 1st September the duo of Tridip Kalita and Anil Sutradhar broke open the lock of shutter of Baruah’s Card Mahal, a mobile repairing centre situated in Sangit Mahavidyalay Complex in Golaghat and stole a total of 130 mobile handsets. Shop owner Abhijit Baruah told that out of the 130 stolen handsets one belongs to him. The thieves made some calls from the owner’s mobile and when during investigation the call record was checked, one call was traced to one Papu Deka of Chungajan. Acting on the clue the owner on the night of 3rd September along with a team of Chungajan Police led by Kamal Chandra Gohain was able to locate Papu Deka and apprehended the mobile lifters from his residence. There has been many instances of mobile thefts in Golaghat and it is hoped that with the arrest of this duo the shop keepers are heaving a sigh of relief.
