Assam trounce Arunachal Pradesh in N E Hockey

Arunachal Pradesh suffered a humiliating defeat by the hand of Assam in the N E Challenge cup Hockey Tournament held at Tayabulla Hockey stadium on Monday. Host team won the match by 16-1.

Ramen singh alone scored six goals for the home side while Prakash Das (3), Ratul Ansari (2), Rohan Singh (2), Anandajit, Bipin Singh and S Boro contributed the other goals. Arunachal Pradesh reduced one through M Debindo.

In the other match of the day title contender Manipur played as per the expectation and beat Mizoram by 7-4.

With todays win Manipur along with Assam entered into the semi final of the tournament. Mizoram, though lost todays group league match, also managed to earn the semi final berth where they will meet Assam. But Manipur had to wait, till tomorrow morning, to know their opponent. Arunachal Pradesh in the last group league match of the meet will play against Tripura and the winner will face Manipur in the other semi final.

The last group league match will be held in the morning which will be followed by the two semi finals in the afternoon.
