On 8 June around 9 am, members of Nikhil Bharatiya Gantantrik Mahila Samiti recovered tablets (used by drug addicts) from a person when he was coming out from the house of some Rafiq Khan of Newghat area of Dhubri town. That man was identified as Riazul Hussain of Bagulamari and was handed over to the police. Riazul confessed before the police that he indeed bought some drugs from Rafiq. Police recovered 300 tablets from his possession.


On March 25 last, members of that Mahila Samity helped the police to recover two cartoons of cough syrup from the house of that Rafiq (which he stored to sell to the drug addicts), but he was not arrested him yet, Mrs. Gita Talukdar, the District President of that Mahila Samity alleged. She also told that they gave memorandums to the Dhubri distraction many times to arrest Rafiq, but nothing happened.


From the people of that area, it came to know that Rafiq moved freely there and his common dialogue is, ‘Police is in my pocket and none can do anything to me’. Some even pointed fingers to a powerful politician of the town, with whom they felt, Rafiq had a close relationship.


It also came to know that there are also other drug-businessmen in that area and all of them are doing their business freely .But now some of the school going students of Newghat area has also started taking drugs and Dhubri administration should not be just a silent spectator, people felt.

The Academic Council of Dhubri district organized a special facilitation ceremony for the top performing students of the district on June 13, who got positions, star marks or highest marks in any subject in the recently declared results of HSLC and AHM examination. Sit-in-demonstration by AIUDYF in Dhubri

More than 200 supporters of All India United Democratic Youth Front (AIUDYF) had made sit-in-demonstration for four hours before the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri on 4 July and demanded to stop harassment of the genuine Indian Citizens in the name of D-Voters. In Dhubri district there are 14,370 nos. of D-voters, out of which 3,732 are male and 10,668 are female voters. Dhubri transport department becomes active

The District Transport Office of Dhubri, has started a special drive stating June 1 to curb irregularities in passenger carrying vehicles. On Wednesday itself, the transport department has collected Rs.10, 600/- as fine, withheld documents of 12 nos. of vehicles, and three busses found to be unfit. In Dhubri, most of the small passenger-carrying vehicles move recklessly with overloaded passengers and there is every possibility of a big accident, anytime. Allegation of supply of substandard materials in Dhubri under ICDS

Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri had sealed a godown where rice and peas were stored for the children under ICDS on May 24 on the basis of the complain made by the Anganbadi workers of the Jamadarhat block.
