Educational Programme by ABSU

All Bodo Students Union (Kokrajhar District Committee) organised a day long educational awareness programme at Bhumka ME and High School under Gossaigaon Block in Kokrajhar district on 9th June. The day long programme included motivational talk by Romeo P Narzary, and career counseling by Ranjan K Baruah, member of North East youth foundation , Guwahati. Romeo Narzary talked about many positive stories which have inspired people around the world and he had appealed to students for taking part in academic activities as the literacy rate of Bodo people is less in comparison with others. he said that for the progress of the community and human resources students must concentrate on education and government and others have to provide quality education to the students from all medium and in particular Bodo medium. Talking about different career option and how one can prepare for a vibrant career, Ranjan k Baruah mentioned that having proper information is needed when we choose career. He has asked the students to read newspaper and career related magazines and discuss with teachers and others for choosing right career. It could be found that students are yet to be area on different career options as the school is in rural areas and flow of information is limited in the area. The meeting was presided over by Larence Islary, president of ABSU KDC.

North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) is organizing a lecture on the possible impacts of EU-India Free Trade Agreement on the marginalized people of North East on29th November at Guwahati Press Club at 9 am. Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitee led by Akhil Gogoi submitted a memorandum to Prime Minster against the construction of large dams in the north east. The memorandum also contains signature of more than 100,000 individuals from different parts of the state.
