Assam swimming coach to train in USA

Rajib Dey, empanelled coach of Assam Swimming Association, is being invitation to Salo Swim Camp organised by the University of Southern California USA, from June 12 to July 1, where he will work and train under two-times Olympic Coach of USA David Salo. The participation of Rajib dey is expected to enhance his capacity as a swimming trainer.

The much-hyped watertight security in the run up to the Republic Day futile when armed youths looted a huge amount of rupees at gunpoint from in Dispur on Friday.The incident took place in the evening in front of the state secretariat when two armed youths halted a car and looted Rs 5 lakh from a person on his way back to home after withdrawing the amount from Dispur SBI branch.Policemen on duty came to the spot. But by then the armed youths managed to escape.

Amid stepped up security measures ahead of the Republic Day, a major tragedy averted in Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district when security forces defused a powerful grenade on Friday.The handgrenade was found lying inside a bag just behind the Dhekiajuli ASTC bus stand in the morning. On seeing the suspicious object, the bag was handed over to the police who later confirmed it a hand grenade. Later it was defused.

The Asom Gana Parishad is in a mood to forge a pre poll alliance with BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Led by its president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, an AGP delegation is camping in New Delhi to explore the possibility of forging the alliance. In yet another sensational murder that rocked Guwahati, a trucker killed a youth before being picked up by police on Thursday.The incident took place on Thursday night when a trucker had an altercation with a youth on Jorabat. Then the trucker forcibly picked up the youth and left towards Basistha. Then he was crushed to death near the Basistha temple. But the police managed to arrest the trucker. Police investigation is going on.
