Assam swimming coach to train in USA

Rajib Dey, empanelled coach of Assam Swimming Association, is being invitation to Salo Swim Camp organised by the University of Southern California USA, from June 12 to July 1, where he will work and train under two-times Olympic Coach of USA David Salo. The participation of Rajib dey is expected to enhance his capacity as a swimming trainer.

The Assam government has announced a rare dose of ambitious schemes for the patients.Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday, health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government will launch a scheme of health insurance for the patients suffering from critical diseases.He said that the patients suffering from cancer, heart and kidney transplant would get Rs 2,50,00 against the insurance amount of Rs 200.Beside, the state will get 20 cancer hospitals apart from one each in the six medical colleges.

ULFA’s anti talk faction has urged the Bangladesh judiciary to review its order of death sentence for Paresh Baruah in the arms smuggling case.In a press statement, the outfit said that they have already made the review request to the Chittagang Court two days after it issued the death sentence to the ULFA Commander-in-Chief along with 14 others.The sensational incident took place in 2004 where police seized ten trucks carrying arms and ammunition for Baruah. In 2010, the court issued non bail-able warrant against the ULFA boss.

AIUDF president on Saturday claimed that the Opposition consensus candidate in the Rajya Sabha poll Haidor Hussain is likely to get vote even from a section of Congress legislators.Addressing a joint press conference with Hussain in Guwahati Ajmal said that he was in touch with a circle of Congress legislators for vote in favour of Hussain.He said that horse trading won’t benefit Congress and BPF in the polls. “I am confident that Hussain would be able to win the poll with flying colours,” said Ajmal.

Delhi police on Saturday claimed to have caught two youths in connection with the Lajpotnagar incident where goons thrashed an Arunachal Pradesh student to death on Thursday.Sources told Assam Times that Lajpotnagar police have arrested two accused namely Farhan and Akhtar—local youths who were running a paneer shop in the area. Investigation is in progress.
Once again an incident of gangrape seems to have touches off seismic waves of shocks and anger in the state. The victim this time is a 16 year old girl in the heart of the Nagaon town.The girl was rescued in a deserted road in the town three days after she went missing from a social welfare department owned house in Jail Road.The girl is believed to have been repeatedly gangraed by 7 goons for the last three days at a house and was dumped on Friday night. Her medical treatment is underway. Police officials probing the case are understood to have found the lead. Details are awaited.
Poachers have struck again in Kaziranga. A full grown rhino was killed in the national park on Saturday.The carcass was found at the Agaratoli range of the national park where the poachers took away the horn. Forest guards rushed to the site after they came to hear the sound of firing in the place.
