He mentioned that the people of Assam are a politically conscious lot and all the anti Congress propagandas by a section of the media including the Farmer Leader have proved otherwise and fallen to deaf ears. On being asked about the possible number of seats the Congress is expected to come out with he said “We might get 65 or it may even rise to 70; there is nothing unobvious about it.” He said that he is indebted and grateful to the people of Assam who have offered a chance for the consecutive third time to serve them and this has increased their liability manifold. As far as garnering friendly support from other Political Parties he concluded that even though it is not necessary this time around yet we shall maintain our ties with the BPF.
