Youth Summit on Climate Change
As a part of the ongoing programme to unite young people against climate change, Youth Alliance for Climate (YAC) is organising youth summit in Guwahati and Gangtok on 17, 18 and 20th May. . The programme would be held in active association with Laya and INECC (Indian Network on Ethics and Climate Change).YAC and LAYA-INECC is organising this youth summit on climate change in Guwahati which would be held on 17, 18 May at NEF Law College Campus in Guwahati.
The summit includes discussion on climate change, debates, documentary screening, etc. Young people will get chance to voice their concerns related to climate change which would be documented and taken into global networks and forums which are working against climate change . There would be no joining fee in the summit and participants would get scope for exposure to see other organisations in the future who are working on issues related to mitigation or adaptation with climate change.
For further details interested students or young professional less than 35 years can communicate with the organisers for further details. The summit will bring together young people from different parts of the north east to raise their voice and concern. The Bodo medium was introduced on 18th May 1963 in Assam. It was in 1976 the Bodo medium Students were lucky to appear for the Secondary Examination. A good number of students have passed out since then. Many intellectuals and people working in different fields have also studied in Bodo medium. There are about 20 lakhs Bodo population in Assam of which 4 lakh are students in Bodo medium studying in lower primary, upper primary and high schools in Bodo medium. There are only 27 Bodo medium provincialised high schools in Assam which do have sufficient teachers and no infrastructure for the students. In a bid to generate awareness on climate change young people from different parts of northeast came together to form Youth Alliance for Climate in 2008. It was a youth programme conducted by Indo Global Social Service Society as a part of their SMILE programme. The participants of that programme decided to form a network as the discussion of the youth programme was on climate change. YAC organises programme in different parts of North East. Most of the programmes are with the young people of the region which includes school students, college students and other young people.
As a part of the programme this year also YAC is organising a youth summit this month in Guwahati and Gangtok....
