Woman commits suicide; man dies mysterious way in Manipur

A woman committed suicide by consuming pesticide after a petty quarrel with her husband on Monday at Wabagai Kadajit under Kakching police station in Thoubal district, police here said today.

Maibam Memcha(22) wife of Maibam Deepak had a quarrel with her husband last afternoon over taking money from her maternal home ,police sources said. She refused to go and ask money from her parents when Deepak insisted on it, resulting in a feud.

She took pesticide inside a latrine around 2p.m. before she was brought to RIMS where doctors declared her dead at 6:45a.m., they said.A case has been registered at Kakching police in connection with the incident.

In another incident, a man has been found dead under mysterious circumstances today at Khabam Makha Leikai in Imphal East.

Thoudam Suranjoy alias Jitao(38) ,allegedly an accused in the killing of one Leishangthem Roma from the same locality, was summoned by police to give his statement today in connection with the killing, police sources said. He was found in an unconscious state early morning . Some of his family members brought him to RIMS for treatment but died there at 7a.m., hospital sources said. The body has been deposited at the JNIMS mortuary. Roma was found dead near Khabam Ahallup in Imphal East on April 21 after she had gone missing since April 3.
