Rural Voters are the key in Dhubri LAC

Rural Voters are the key in Dhubri LAC

In recently concluded Assembly Election, some stunning facts came into light regarding the polling pattern of 23 Dhubri Assembly Constituency, which has 15 Gaon Panchyats and a Municipal area. It is found: out of 153339 voters 125119 voters cast their votes and thus officially declared polling percentage is 81.5.

But in Dhubri Municipal Area, out of 50940 voters, 33896 cast their votes. This means 66.54% voters of Dhubri Municipal area cast their vote and it is merely 22% of the total voters of the Dhubri Assembly Constituency. Again in case of rural areas of the constituency it is found: out of 102399 of rural voters, 91223 voters cast their votes (who are mainly from minority community), which means the polling percentage of rural area is 89.05% and is almost 59.49% of the total voters, more than 2 times higher than the polling percentage of the urban areas..

So, in Dhubri Assembly segment rural voters are the key and the party which they support will win the seat. There were seven candidates in the fray from this constituency, the main candidates being from AIUDF, AGP, BJP and Congress (I). But ultimately there will be a keen contest between the candidates of AIUDF and Congress, and it is apprehended that both the parties have 50-50 chance to win.
