Extra security arrangment for Indo-Pak ODI

The Assam police and district administration, who will involve with the security related matter in the forthcoming One day International match between India and Pakistan, will take several steps to ensure that the match can be organized without any trouble. As an extra step of caution this time they are planning not to allow spectators to go inside even with packet food.

A discussion in this regard already held recently in the office of the deputy commissioner ,Kamrup (metro), which was attended by the officials of the Assam Cricket Association and the state police department. Later a joint team from the Assam Police and the district administration visited the Nehru Stadium, the venue of the November five tie, to review the security arrangement.

It has been decided that this time extra fencing would be placed around the gallery to control the crowd. Each block of the Nehru stadium would be divided into three parts with sitting arrangement of around 1000 each .It may be mentioned here that around 3000 spectators can sit at a time in a single block at the Nehru Stadium to watch a cricket match.

The Assam Cricket Association will also have to strengthen the fencing of the ground. At the same time the height of the fencing also to be increased this time atleast for two feet. Last time, abandon of match between India and England in April, 2006, sparked crowd violence and many irate crowds came inside by breaking the fencing.

Among other steps that could be taken during the match are : the crowd, once entered into the ground, would not get chance to come out before the match is over. Like previous matches water bottle would not be allowed to carry and this time carry of packet food would likely to be restricted. ACA has been asked to arrange food for the spectators inside the stadium. On the other hand there may not be separate block for the student and they could be spread in the different galleries.
