voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Trinamool Congress has expressed deep shock at the self immolation of Pramod Boro for land patta issue.Party president Mamata Banerjee in her address at the huge rally in Sarusajai said that the incident was really a shocking. She further asked party leader Mukul Roy to visit the bereaved family members to convey sympathy on her behalf.Later, accompanied by MLA Dwipen Pathak and KMSS president Akhil Gogoi, Roy visited Boro’s family members in the afternoon and condoled the death of the KMSS activist.

Noted film actor Biju Phukan joined Trinamool Congress in presence of Mamata Banerjee at a function in Guwahati on Wednesday.Phukan, who once contested the assembly polls from AGP told the TMC boss that he was prepared to fight the polls.People thronged in thousands at the sarusajai Stadium to attend the TMC rally where Mamata Banerjee drew appreciation.

Mahanta slams Rahul

AGP on Wednesday sharply criticized Rahul Gandhi a day after the Congress vice president slammed the regional parties for failures on all fronts.Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, party president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that Gandhi had no rights to criticize AGP.Mahanta questioned Gandhi’s silence on the genuine problems confronting Assam and its people.He further lambasted Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for comparing Gandhi with Lachit Borphukan on Tuesday. 

Road shows brew traffic snarl

Normal surface communication came to a grinding halt on the National Highway No 37 when Rahul Gandhi was holding a huge road show in Nagaon on Wednesday.The vehicles bound for Guwahati were not allowed to cross beyond Jakhalabandhi while the Sivasagar bound buses were stopped at Roha hours before the road show.Local residents told Assam Times that the traffic snarl took place only due to lack alternative arrangement to clear the vehicles during the road show.
