voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Road shows brew traffic snarl

Normal surface communication came to a grinding halt on the National Highway No 37 when Rahul Gandhi was holding a huge road show in Nagaon on Wednesday.The vehicles bound for Guwahati were not allowed to cross beyond Jakhalabandhi while the Sivasagar bound buses were stopped at Roha hours before the road show.Local residents told Assam Times that the traffic snarl took place only due to lack alternative arrangement to clear the vehicles during the road show.   

Road show pulls huge crowds

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi pulled huge crowd when he was holding a huge road show in Nagaon on Wednesday.Immediately after returning from Uriamgaon and Samoguri areas, the Nehru-Gandhi scion landed at the Nehrubali Playground in Nagaon at 12-30 and started the road show where thousands of people were waiting in both sides of the National Highway.A smiling Gandhi also drew big claps as he was waving his hands at roadside crowd. In Nagaon district alone, Gandhi held 10 road shows. The shows continued en route to Tezpur.

Mesmerizing hamlet

“Its wonderful.” That’s the exact word from Rahul Gandhi’s mouth when the Congress vice president got mesmerized as he visited a model hamlet showcasing the socio-cultural various of the various ethnic tribes in Nagaon on Wednesday.The Nehru-Gandhi scion landed at the Nehrubali Playground in Nagaon at 11-30 in the morning.Accompanied by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi along with APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita, AICC leaders Avinash Pandey and Dre CP Joshi, Gandhi straightly drove to Puranigudam area to visit the model village. Rahul seeks divine help

Congress president Rahul visited Kamakhya temple on his last day of visit to Assam on Wednesday.Accompanied by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi along with APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita, AICC leaders Avinash Pandey and Dre CP Joshi, Gandhi arrived in the historic temple at 9-30 in the morning and offered puja to the goddess Kamakhya.Then he left for Azara to attend a function at the Donbosco Institute.   

Festivity in Jorhat

Jorhat gears up for Rahul Gandhi’s visit on Wednesday.The entire home city of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi turns into a security fortress in view of the hectic day where the AICC vice president will attend a meeting of the women Congress activists.  Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Jorhat at 4 in the afternoon by a helicopter and would hold the meeting with the women activists. Then he would leave back to New Delhi via Roawria.

Its turn for Mamata

After Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi, now its turn for Mamata Banerjee to hold huge rally in Guwahati.The Trinamool Congress president is holding a rally in the city on Wednesday to woo the voters in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.TMC leaders told Assam Times that the West Bengal Chief Minister will hold a rally at Sarusajai in the afternoon.She is scheduled to land in Borjhar Airport at 2 in the afternoon to address the rally at 3 in the afternoon.Apart from it, she will hold a party meeting in the afternoon.          

Tezpur all abuzz

Tezpur seems to have dressed afresh to receive Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday. An elaborate security is in place in the beautiful town to ensure peace during the visit.The AICC vice president is scheduled to arrive in the city of eternal romance at 2 in the afternoon to attend a road show. Then he would leave for Jorhat at 3 in the afternoon.

Nagaon ready for Rahul

On his second and last day of visit to Assam, Rahul Gandhi is holding two road shows in Nagaon and Tezpur on Wednesday. The Congress vice president is scheduled to land in Nagaon Nehrubali at 11-30 in the morning. He will visit an unique hamlet set up to showcase the various ethnic culture and lifestyles. After holding the road show, he will leave for Tezpur to hold another function at 2 in the afternoon.    

Ensure 14 seats: Gandhi

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asked APCC to put up a commendable show in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.This was what he told to APCC leaders at the executive meeting in the evening. He is understood to sought assurance from the APCC leaders during his interaction with them.Gandhi further appreciated chief minister Tarun Gogoi and president Bhubneswar Kalita for taking the party to the grass root level.     

Lifeless Pramod returns

Amid a descending pall of gloom, KMSS shifted the body of Pranab Boro alias Puwaram Sarania to Gorchuk on Tuesday evening.  After post mortem, led by Akhil Gogoi hundreds of KMSS activists took carried the mortal remains of Boro firstly to the Gandhibast-based party office where all KMSS activists paid him their last respect.Then it was taken to Gorchuk for last respect by his relatives, family members and well wishers.
