voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Tiger caught in Guwahati

Yet another leopard was captured in Guwahati on Friday.The full grown leopard was caught in a trap in Kahilipara in the wee hours. With this, forest officials have so far caught five leopards in the entire area from January.More leopards are believed to have been moving in the area on the foothills of the Narakasur hills in the city.

Body found inside car

A body inside an abandoned car seems to have put Jorabat area in flutter on Friday morning.The car was spotted by the local residents who informed the police.Later police recovered a body from this car.Investigation is going on.  

Explosion at oilfield

A huge explosion at an oilfield in Duliajan seems to have created panic among the local residents on Thursday.The explosion took place with a huge sound in the evening at the Oil India Limited owned No 5 oilfield.But the authorities have called it a technical trouble resulting in the massive fire that threatens to engulf the entire oil field. Don’t hold protest: Akhil

Akhil Gogoi has appealed to the KMSS leaders and activists not to hold any protest demanding his release.The KMSS president, who is in police custody for the last four days told his advocate that the activists should not take resort to violence in the name of protest against his arrest.    Gogoi, along with five of his associates were arrested on Sunday wee hours in connection with the recent self immolation case.

35 cases against Akhil

Police have altogether 35 cases pending against Akhil Gogoi.This was what police told the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on Thursday.CJM court on Sunday asked police to furnish the case dairy details against him when the produced the KMSS president after arresting him in connection with the recent self immolation case.

No pact with AGP

BJP on Thursday virtually rejected any alliance with AGP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.Talking to reporters in Guwahati, senior party leader SS Ahluwaliah said that the party would field candidates in all 14 Lok Sabha constituencies.It suggests that the party will go it alone in the general polls.Notably, despite stiff resistance from home state unit, a section of AGP leaders has been holding talks with BJP central leadership to forge pre poll alliance with the regional party.     

BJP fails to finetune list

State BJP unit has failed to fine tune the list of the candidates for the Lok Saha polls slated for April 7, 12 and 24.The Opposition party held its election committee meeting in Hotel Rituraj in the morning in presence of S S Ahluwaliah. But the meeting could not proceed in the face of difference within the heavyweights.State president Sarbananda Sonowal is leaving for New Delhi on Thursday to prepare the panel of the candidates in a day or two.The party is expected to announce the list next week.

Gogoi vs Gogoi

Internal bickering seems to touched a new low within the poll bound Congress.Assembly Speaker Pranab Gogoi on Thursday called on party president Sonia Gandhi and apprised her of the state of affairs hardly a month ahead of the Lok Sabbha polls.Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Gogoi, whose son is a contender from Jorhat seat, said that he urged her to field competent candidate in the general polls.Significantly, he is understood to have told the high command that all was not well in the ruling party.He urged Gandhi that only the winnable candidates should be fielded in the polls.
