A full bench if the Election Commission is in Guwahati on a 2 day visit to Assam. led by Chief Election Commissioner, S.Y. Quraishi, the delegation met the political leaders and poll officialos to review the poll preparations. Moreover, they discussed poll praparations with returning officers and Superintendents of Police.
AGP and BJP leaders formally alleged model code violation by the ruling Congress as they met the poll panel.
Notably, Assam is set to go to the polls on April 4 and 11 in two phases. The first phase will involve 62 constituencies while the the remaining 64 constituencies will go to the polls on April 11. The number of polling booths is 23,813.
