24 Hrs bandh NC Hills affects normal
The 24 Hours N.C. Hills Bandh with effect from 5:00 AM on December9 to 5:00 AM of December 10, called by the N.C. Hills Indigenous Students' Forum affected normal life here at Haflong. The NCHISF has given the call in protest against: (1)the negligence of the Deputy Commissioner, N.C. Hills to respond their Memorandum, dated November 1 for shifting of the DHD (J) Camp at AH & Very Campus from the Haflong Town area 2. the proposed DHD (J) camp within proper Mahur area and 3. the delaying of Bifurcation of N.C. Hills by the Govt. of Assam. All the business establishments remain closed right from the morning. All the govt and semi govt offices remain closed. All the vehicles are off the road except police and army vehicles.

Tension is running high in Langting area of Dima Hasao following the recovery of almost decomposed body of Swapan Paul aged 32 in jungle between Langting and Dihakho, who was kidnapped by some unidentified miscreants on the night of February 28th from Langting area, 110 KM from Haflong at a time when the district is still having several security agencies.

Pradip Ranjan Dev,a retired teacher, who was abducted on February 7 from Haflong was rescued today by the police.
