3 killed in Rongia police firing

There is report of simmering tension at Rongia in the outskirt of Guwahati a day after 3 killed and several others injured in police firing at a group clash on Friday. According to information, the incident took place as security forces opened fire to control an irrate mob of the All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union who allegedly vandalized a number of business establishments on the Rangiya-Bhutan road at Rangiya Tiniali. Three persons died after they were critically injured in the incident.


It may be noted that the entire incident took place a few hours after six youths were physically assaulted by a person. This has forced Kamrup rural district authorities to firmly deal with the situation. Situation is said to be tense.


Senior ministers Dr Bhumidhar Barman and forest minister Rockybul Hussain are on a stock-taking visit to Rongiya. Meanwhile, the authorities have suspended sub divisional police officer along with police station officer in charge Bokul Gogoi on Sunday morning.
