The National Democratic Front of Bodoland has owned up the responsibility of the Sunday’s incident at Balipara in Tezpur a day after they kidnapped two good train drivers at gunpoint. Talking to Northeast Frontier Railway officials over telephone on Monday, the Bodo outfit said they would release the drivers only if the operation in forest areas of the district is stopped. It may be recalled that NDFB rebels kidnapped two drivers of goods train at Balipara on Sunday on its way to Bhalukpung. The drivers are Nirmal Chandra Barpatra Gohain and Atul Chiring Phukan. On the other hand, family members of the kidnapped drivers gheraoed the NF Railway’s senior technical manager to ensure safe release of their husbands.
