Those deceased are identified as Memo Murha of Kuhiartoli under Nagaon Police station and Fuleswari Das of Parokhowa under Karbi Anglong district of Assam. On the other hand the injured person has been identified as Ganesh Das, the husband of Fuleswari Das. The incident occurred at arounf 4.30 pm when the laboureres were breaking stones in a stone quarry located on the hill. The sudden landslide hit few labourers and in among them, 2 labourers lost their lives. As the landslide occurred in a remote part, the local people came to know about it after a long time.

It is to mention that the landslide are frequently occurring in the particularly in the foot hills of Chapanala, Borjuri, Salna, Choto Kondoli of Nagaon district in Assam and some part of the Karbi Anglong are due to mushrooming of stone quarries. . It is obvious that indiscriminate cutting of hills in these regions has become a major environmental issue. It is clear that the extent of the hill cutting for stone quarries in these particular areas is a matter of concern that needs some special attention to be paid.
