Haflong ITI in bad shape

When the Government has been pumping a huge amount to the Industrial Technical Institute of Assam to provide training to the unprivileged youths for their self reliant, the 25 years old Haflong ITI has failed to provide basic needs to the trainees, people alleged.


This institution is having as many as six trades like Electrician, Wiring, MMV, Electronics, Pump operator, welding and also dress making added as new trade. The conscious people alleged that trainees were not provided with proper machines during their practical class; thereby they had to face lot of problems.


Though the institute is declared as the ‘centre of excellence’ but nothing has been changed in practical. The trainees were to suffer a lot for absence of toilet and even power supply. They have to work with old machines and tools. Some times they have to cut firewood even, to help the cook. Though there had been a vehicle they cannot use the vehicle for marketing as it remained idle for several years.


People argued why authorities are engaged in useless activities like putting floor tiles in workshops instead of providing sufficient training materials for the trainees of ITI, Haflong and instead of providing adequate hostel facilities like proper bathroom, fans, and gas for cooking, etc.


Surprisingly, Sri N. H. Mazumder who has been the Superintendent of Haflong ITI for fifteen years instead of co-operating with media reportedly misbehaved with the press man while gathering news relating to the ITI for the reasons best known to him.

Grenade recovered at Haflong

Police recovered China made grenade from the official residence of Sri Mayanan Kemprai, Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, this morning. Grenade recovered at Haflong

Police recovered a Chinese grenade from Essar Petrol Pump here at Haflong this morning which was kept near oil lifting machine. Mentioned may be made here that the Essar pump is belonged to Niramal Langthasa, youngest son of the Local MLA Sri G. C. Langthasa. This pump is situated adjacent to the residence of the MLA. No enthusiasm in electioneering in Dima Hasao

When the entire state is getting ready for the ensuing Assembly election, here in Dima Hasao, the lone 16-Haflong (ST) constituency, no enthusiasm was observed till the date. Train derails near Lower Haflong

During the 2nd Day of the 100 hours NCHills Bandh suspected bandh supporters remove fish plate of the railway track near Lower Haflong Rly Station at about 2.50 PM resulting to the derailment of down goods train bound for Badarpur with no injury to any person. 100 hours NCHills Bandh disrupts normal at Haflong

The NC. Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum sponsored 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh started from 6 PM on Friday disrupted the normal life at Haflong. Due to 4th Saturday all the offices remain closed. No vehicle was seen on the road except of security. The NCHISF has been demanding immediate bifurcation of N. C. Hills into two Autonomous District with separate Autonomous Council. The Government has also constituted a task force to deal with them. Last 21st January was fixed for talk in-between task force and the IPF and NCHISF but it was deferred by January 28th. 36 hours Dima Raji Bnadh affects normal life

The 36 hours Dima Raji Bandh starting from 5 AM today paralyzed the normal life here at Haflong. IPF submits memo to Central Home Minister
