Manpower crisis, lack of vehicles, poor infrustructure hit Chaparmukh

In view of growing criminal activities, the Chapormukh Police Outpost was set up to curb the same many years ago.Unfortunately, manpower crisis,lack of vehicles, poor infrustucture are the three major problems being faced by the Outpost since its establishment. This police outpost which alone rendering services to 16 villages and more than 40 kms. area without having even the minimum facilities in their hand.


The police outpost is functioning from a small abandoned house consisting of three small rooms with cracked walls,broken roof. Of the three rooms one is for the In-Charge (IC),one for office use and the other for quarter- cum- kitchen.


Besides the IC , the police outpost has only 3 constables,1 nayak,and 1 Home Guard personnel though it requires at least 10 constables to look after the security of the vast area. Moreover,there is no any female Home Guard personnel or constable for which the outpost faces a lot of problems in visiting the cases related to women.


The Chapormukh Police Outpost is also facing the problems of vehicles. Many a times cases related to police are visited by vehicles hired by the policemen of this outpost.It is learnt that the amount paid to the hired vehicles is always arranged by the policemen themselves.


There is no toilet,latrine and water supply facility at the outpost.It is also crying up for a telephone and a generator.There is no additional room in the police outpost where criminals arrested by the police personnel can be interrogated and the seized vehicles can be kept. Though the outpost IC made several requests to the top police officials to look into their problems but to no avail.


According to the information,the police personnel of this outpost get regular information about the various crimes that happen under its jurisdiction ,but they can not go for raid or investigation as the outpost has no vehicles.


The locals of the area,however,said this correspondent that despite the numerous problems faced by this outpost , the IC Shankar Das, constables Mafidul Islam, Khagen Nath, Nipen Gogoi, nayak Biren Pathak, and Home Guard Jagannath Deka are doing their level best to serve the people of the area.

Foreign liquors seized in Nagaon

Nagaon: A team of Flying Squad comprising of Nagaon police and Excise personnel today seized 42 cartoons of foreign liquer at Sialmari from a Tata Magic vehicle bearing no. AS 02 BC 7095. According to sources , the illegal liquors were being secretly transported to Kachua , Kampur by a man identified as Anuwar Hussain. Dacoit died in Nagaon gangwar

RAHA: A dreaded dacoit died and another sustained serious injury when a gang war took place in Nagaon on Sunday. The incident took place at Nagabandha in the wee hours where a group of armed dacoits were travelling on a vehicle. As they reached Juria suddenly they spotted another gang and started gun firing at each other.  Identified as Jonab Ali, an infamous died on the spot while another sustained serious injury who is fighting to survive at the hospital. Watery grave for minor boys in Kapili

RAHA: Two minor boys met watery grave when the duo along with a few others were going to bath in a river in Nagaon district on Saturday. The incident took place in Chapormukh area at around 11.30 in the morning as they were bathing on the river Kopili. Suddenly, the river water  current washed Akash Rai  and Mukti Prasad Bora—both studying in Hansora School who failed to bail out of the strong undercurrent. Local residents in large number along with SDRF personnel arrived in the spot and fished out the bodies leaving a pall of gloom in the area.

Girl raped inside auto in Nagaon

RAHA: Yet another rape incident in Nagaon sends no less shock and sensation across the state. The victim hails from Jagiroad whom a neighbour took away to the central Assam town and rape inside an auto before dumping her at the Mukut Sarma Road in broad day light.The eyewitnesses rescued the girl and the police have registered a case. Coal trucks seized in Raha

RAHA: In a stepped up crackdown across the state against the illegal coal traders, the police in Raha intercepted five coal truck on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off the policeman on the National Highway No 37 seized the five trucks loaded with coal early in the morning. The drivers, who have been detained, confessed to have brought the huge consignment to Guwahati from Jowai in Meghalaya. Interrogation is going on. Biker dead in road mishap at Raha

RAHA: A biker died when he lost control over his vehicle before it rammed into the divider on the National Highway No 37 in Raha on Wednesday.The mishap took place at Phulguri in the afternoon when  Amarjyoti Deka, a resident of  Kasomari was riding on his two wheeler which hit the divider.
