Assam Meghalaya border dispute: CM's constitutes joint committee


With a view to sort-out the on-going border disputes between Assam and Meghalaya, the chief ministers of both the states Tarun Gogoi and Dr. Mukul M. Sangma in presence of the ministers and senior officers held a high level meeting here at Assam secretariate on June5 evening.


The meeting decided to conduct a judicial enquiry concerning Langpi incident by a sitting judge of the high court.


Official sources also informed that the meeting, however, constituted a joint commitee comprising the chief secretaries (CS)of both the states to prepare the modalities of the proposed discussion between the states within the next 45 days which will be followed by a meeting of the chief minister level again. The joint commitee has been asked to have discussions in every week till the modalities are prepared.
