ULFA welcomes Tarun Gogoi's decision to hold peace-talk


The banned ULFA on friday (May 28) have welcomed the decision by the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to hold peace talks with the outfit.


A crucial meeting of the outfit held here at the Guwahati central jail which was attended by the jailed and released ULFA leaders opined that the organisation will soon be holding a meeting to finalise its decision to have or not to have peace talks with the Govt. minus it's Commander-in-Chief Paresh Barua.


In a press communique issued after the meeting, the ULFA publicity secretary , Mithinga Daimary stated that the need of the hour is to have a congenial atmosphere for the proposed talk with the Government.He also demanded the release of the jailed ULFA leaders. He said that the senior citizen's forum even through a convention had adopted resolutions favouring Paresh Barua to be included in the proposed Govt-ULFA peace talk.He however hinted to sit in an another meeting of the ULFA leaders on Saturday to take its final decision.The meeting was attended by the oufit's Chairman Aravinda Rajkhowa, advisor Bhimkanta Burhagohain, finance secretary Chitrban Hazarika, deputy commander-in-chief Raju Barua, foreign secretary Shashadhar Chowdhury, cultural secretary Pranati Deka and publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary.

There is nothing new. Its the old recond played from time to time. It is yet not clear whether the jailed outfit members are leading the group or Paresh Barua himself. The CM is well aware of the fact and would like the matter remain hnanging till a settlement is reached.
