Showing a noble gesture to the society, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) has decided to provide helping hand to those meritorious students, who topped in the recently declared Board exams and performed well, despite of all odds.
Informing this in a press communique, AASU general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi on Thursday stated that Geetika Talukdar, who topped the list of the successful students in the 10+2 level in Arts stream had no electricity facility at her home.Bringing smile to Geetika and her family members, the Barpeta unit of the organisation on Thursday have arranged electricity connection at her home and have decided to provide all help to continue her higher studies.While,the top third ranker of the Arts stream, Nilakshi Baishya from Darrang district will also to get her higher studies continued with the initiatives by the Darrang unit of the organisation.Likewise, Priyanchi Baishya from Golaghat (8th position in commerce stream), Lakhi Sharma from Tezpur (secured highest 98% in physics) and Sailen Thakuria from Rangiya (9th position in science stream) will also be getting fiscal and other help from AASU.
