New junior science college opened at Tangla
In order to provide quality science education to economically backward students of Udalguri,who cannot afford to study in Guwahati or elsewhere in the country,a juniour science college named -Arunodoi junior Science College has been etablished recently at Tangla. A public meeting which was presided over by Lakhi Kanta Ramchiary decided to open the new junior science college at Tangla from July 2010 under the supervision of a Tangla NGO 'Arunodoi'.
While talking to media persons, Napolean Daimari,Principal, Arunodoi Academy High School,Tangla said that the junior science college was established as there had not been a good science institution for higher secondary level students in and around Tangla.It needs mentioned that the new junior science college will start classes from the month of July 2010 at its own premises situated in ward No. 4 Tangla.

One Surya Gauria (45) has been trampled by a loner wild tusker at Dangalbasti near No.2 Ghagra (Hatigarh) on today afternoon at 4 pm while trying to chase away the wild tusker. It needs mention that wild elephants have so far killed 16 person and injured many more in Udalguri district during this year.Elephants on the Line and Green Valley Forest and Wildlife Protection Society of the district appeal government to take early preventing measures so as to minimize casuality of both man and elephant. Child scientists of Kalaigaon block have won five out of six awards in the district level science based competition held at Udalguri HSS on May 29. The competition was organized by Udalguri district administration under the aegis of Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC). Hridoijyoti Ojah and Nishamoni Sarma of National Pioneer Jr.College,Tangla have secured 5th and 9th position in the HS (commerce stream) bringing glory to not only Tangla but to Udalguri district. Total 332 students appeared in Arts and Commerce stream. 87 passed in first division ( 8 students with distinction marks, 24 with star marks and 185 with letter marks); 122 in second division and 111 in third division.The success percentage was 99 percent.

One Pramod Kumar Singh jawan of BOP (Border Out Post),SSB, Nalapara in Udalguri district has been killed by wild elephants at 10 am today at Nalapara,under Harisinga police station.
