Guwahati refinery observes anti-terrorism day

Showing solidarity to the rest of the nation in shunning terrorism, the employees of Guwahati Refinery, the top management and the security forces solemnly took the pledge against terrorism on 21st May 2010 at the Refinery Administrative Building lawns.

This day is observed every year as Anti-terrorism Day in memory of Late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi who fell to assassins’ terror attack 19 years ago in Sriperumbudur. At Guwahati Refinery, all the assembled employees and security forces including CISF and Home Guards took the pledge in Assamese, Hindi and English and vowed to shun all forms of terrorism and violence and promote peace and harmony amongst all fellow human beings.

Shri G.Bhanumurthy, Executive Director, while addressing the gathering talked about how small irreconcilable differences between groups of people, groups of countries, or any other group leads or escalates to acts of violence and perpetuates terrorist activities causing harm to many. He referred to the unrest prevailing in different parts of the country that have emerged out of all these differences. Shri Bhanumurthy called upon all to be tolerant of each other and be appreciative of others’ differences.

This is really appreciative of the Guwahati Refinery in taking such a pledge to abhor violence and communalism of all sorts. Being a public sector unit it solemnly undertakes its task to shun out terrorism that swells underneath the anti-terrorist organisations. Such noble deeds should be acquired by all the citizens to save their motherland from harsh and savage acts that poisons the very fabic of patriotism.
