Dipmol Bora: a tribute

The sudden demise of Dipmol Bora on April 5 had been like a bolt from the blue which casted a dark shadow over Kalaigaon.He had been liked by all for his mastery over any kinds of activities with a always smiling face.Born at Barthekerabari village in Darrang district in 1936 he passed matriculation from Sipajhar Academy.He took training at Raha to join Khadi movement at the inspiration of noted freedom fighter Pani Ram Das.


Later he became the secretary of Kalaigaon panchayat, also offered his service by doing the job of a teacher in Kalaigaon sevashram LP School.In between he completed Mandal training from Survey school,Jalukbari,Guwahati..Finally he joined Kalaigaon HS School as head clerk in 1962 to be retired from service in 1994.People of Kalaigaon greatly remember his contribution in the field of culture and drama at Kalaigaon during fifties and sixties. The trio of late Kanak Lata Das (wife of freedom fighter Pani Ram Das);late Subal Das and Dipmol Bora had been a regular figure in almost all the cultural activities at Kalaigaon. Various organisations of Kalaigaon namely Pragati Sangha,Asom Sangha,Sangeet Natakam,Bihu Sanmilan etc remember his never ending contribution for the people of Kalaigaon.Let the Almighty grant his departed soul eternal peace.

Noa posing threat to roads in Kalaigaon

Food poisoning claims 1

A minor girl dead and dozen others fell ill after they consumed prasad served at a religious function in Udalguri district on Friday. The tragic incident took place in Kalaigaon area where a ten year old girl died early in the morning. At least 71 others have complained of stomach ace and vomitting hours after they consumed prasad. The deceased was identified as Dipsikha Nath who died at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Talking to media, ADC DN Hazariaka said that the incident took place hours after they consumed prasad at the house of Harakanta Nath on Wednesday.
