Workshop on citizen journalism at Odalguri

A day long workshop on citizen journalism and new media was organised at Odalguri town on March 5, 2010. Assam Times group of e-news paper in association with MAHITI ,Bangalore, North east Journalist's Association, Journalist and noted science organiser Jayanta Kumar Das and journalist and Odalguri district ABSU speker Daipaisa Baro sponsored the workshop, which was held in the DC's conference hall, Odalguri. A total of 45 young people including girls from Kalaigaon,Tangla,Bhergaon,Khoirabari,Nonaipara,Bhairabkunda,Dimakuchi Rowta Orang etc attended the workshop.Jayanta Kumar Das and Daipaisa Baro anchored the proceedings of the open session while Arup Arandhara, Lingaraju and Bishnu conducted the technical session part.The participants were taught the latest multimedeia technologies relating both print and electronic media.Dr.S.S.Meenakshi Sundaran IAS,Deputy Commissioner Odalguri formally inaugurated the workshop at 11 am.On the occasion he welcomed all the young delegates to the exciting world of citizen journalism and new media and said that journalists were the mirrors of the society.They had the power to guard common peoples interest.According to him freedom of media would very much depend on the positive activities of the young journalists.
