Manas sanctuary set to get 6 rhino guests

Good news. Manas Sanctuary is all set to get 6 more rhinos afresh. Courtesy US Fish & Wild Life services( FWL), International Rhino Foundation( IRF), and World Wild Fund (WWF). These agencies are implementing the Indian Rhino Visssion 2020 aiming at increasing 3000 Rhino population in all the seven sanctuaries in the state. The scheme saw its implementing in 2008 when 3 rhinos were released in this sanctuary on April 13, 2008. This is fort the first time in this sanctuary, rhinos were released to boost its population. As the number of rhinos decreased, the organizers of Indian Rhino Vision came to the rescue. Manas National park’s project Director Of Manas Tiger project, Anindya Swargiary has been helping the WWF implement the scheme. The senior project officer of WWF Deba Kumar Dutta and his co-workers help this scheme get properly implemented. Notably, in 2008 two rhinos were freed in Manas Sanctuary and at present there were five rhinos in it. The Indian Rhino Vission has six other rhinos for Pabitora National Park in March. Talking Assam Times, project director of Manas Tiger project, Anindya Swargiary rhino monitoring is a costly affairs these days adding that a Rs 6 lakh fund is required per rhino to be transferred. “It was a risky After transferring a rhino the workers of the NGOs and the forest guards had to bear some extra care and responsibilities,” he said.

Barpeta Anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs

On the eve of 15 August, Barpeta anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs of Assam movement with the lightening of the lamp of 855 earthen lamps at Barpeta Panch-Ali Chowk on Sunday. Dead body of the servant recovered

A dead body of a girl servant namely Krishna Medhi was recovered in a pond at Gandhi Nagar area at Barpeta town on Sunday night. According to report, Krishna Medhi was the servant at one Dwijen Das residence, workers of LIC, Barpeta branch of Barpeta Gandhinagar. Mentionable that the dead Krishna Medhi had been worked as a servant somany years at the house of Dwijen Das. The local people of the area found her dead and rushed to the sadar police station of Barpeta. The local people and Krishna’s family members wanted to say it as a murder. 4 killed in Barpeta police firing

Four people died and over 50 others have been injured when police opened fire on a group of student protesters trying to stall government proceedings of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Barpeta on Wednesday.
