Photo of an unusual four-storied "Bhelleghar" constructed by villagers at Lathapara, near Naamkhola in Darrang district which had attracted large number of people for a few days till January 15.

Firstly I want to thanks the villagers of Lathapara and the young boy who created this Bhelaghar. I appreciate you that this is a nice work. I live in guwahati in concrit jungle but i am a lover of Meji. I create in this year Meji and Bhelaghar with my friends. In our locality there have no sufficient bamboo. I hope please you will create this type of Bhelaghar. Thanks

Wild elephant killed at Badlapara TE

In a very tragic incident one wild elephant (makhana) lost its life in Badlapara tea garden in the night of June 14. As per information the wild elephants body was found near the factory house of the garden in the morning.It has been alleged that careless and loosely errected  electric lines of Badlapara TE could be responsible for the death.The animal's body was found near a jackfruit tree and it is believed that it could have come in touch of the loose electric lines.According to another source the wild elephant was poisoned to death by some people in retaliation.

Wild elephant trapped in tea garden

A wild female elephant which had fallen into deep tea garden trench in Bhutiachang tea garden (section 24) was successfully rescued in the afternoon of June 14. According to information a herd of wild elephant numbering more than forty was seen roaming in and around Bhutiachang te garden  since last week. The herd was quite peaceful and friendly to people. In another tragic incident  one Indrajit Sarma (32) of Kasubil village under Paneri Police Station has been mysteriously killed by a wild elephant at Jorapukhuri village yesterday evening at 7 pm on June 9. Two killed by wild elephants in Udalguri district

In a tragic incident wild elephants killed two people at Coramore on June 8. According to information two strayed wild elephants had been roaming in and around Coramore area for two days. Yesterday evening both the wild elephants arrived at Ambasa line of Coramore tea garden looking for food. The elephants tried to break houses and in the process instantly killed one Jonak Tete (21) son of Gabriel at Ambasa line and another Chandra Das (52) at Sangrila line at around 7.30 pm on June 8.
