Pre-Christmas Cake Festival 2009 underway in Guwahati

With the advent of Christmas and New Year, flavored and delicious cakes are in huge demand. From December 21-23, this maiden cake festival “Pre-Christmas Cake Festival 2009” is being organised by cookery and bakery section of the Centre for Alternative Vocation (CAV), a voluntary organization working in the North Eastern States of India which mainly focuses on the holistic development of the youth and women, through livelihood support, strengthening educational status etc. The three day festival that begins today will be held at CAV's office premises at House No. 50, Opposite Bye Lane 6, Rajgarh, Guwahati.


The festival was inaugurated by noted Assamese actress Kashmiri Saikia Baruah and young heart throb Nishita Goswami. The three-day festival will feature as many as fifty different varieties of cakes prepared by the trainees and trained students of the organisation. Speaking on the occasion, Nishita exclaimed that “Preparing a good flavoured tasty cake is not only an art but also a media for income generation that can lead to holistic development of women and housewives.” This should attract all section specially woman and young girls she added. The exhibition-cum-sale program will bring out Christmas cakes like Pulm Cake, Fruit Cake, Baba Auprum Cake and etc and other non-veg cakes. The major attraction of the festival will be the strictly vegetarian cake prepared without egg.
