Centre willing for talk with ULFA: Chidambaram

The Centre on Wednesday makes it plain that the Government was ready to hold talks with ULFA and asserted that dignity of the leaders of the banned outfit will be maintained when the peace dialogue happens. This what Union home Minister P Chidambaram informed Rajya Sabha as he was responding to a question posed by BPF mmber Biswajeet Daimary. He said the Centre will be happy if ULFA comes forward for talk. He said the government was willing to talk to all insurgent groups of North East including ULFA if they abjure violence, lay down arms and give up demand for sovereignty. He, further said that there has been no offer of talks from ULFA till now and that the ULFA leadership wouild be accorded dignity as they come forward for talk.

The Central Bureau of Investigation says National Democratic Front of Boroland chairman Ranjan Daimary is the prime accused in the October 30 Assam serial blasts case. According to CBI sources, Daimary hatched the plan for the explosions three months earlier.
