Nagaon Book Fair: Nine days long affair begins on October 3

The importance of books can easily be seen in our daily life, where it not only helps us as a friend but guide it too when we try to solve some of our problem through it. Besides, course curriculum books cater to wide range of our choice depending upon various age groups, taste, hobbies etc. and any book in our own mother language can add the much needed spice through which we may feel attached with the entire narration in a story. To emphasize the role of book in present days the need of ‘Book Fair’ at different label can’t be ignored and its social duty is very much full-filled by known publishing house National Book Trust, India at Nehru Bali field in Nagaon through nine days long attempt to popularize the books starting on 3rd October’09. In this book-fair more than 100 stalls is arranged in which multi-lingual books are available from publishers arrived from many corners of the country. The books including prose, competitive, literature in different languages, Yoga, Short stories etc. is mainly attracting the Nagaon crowds.

The October 3-11 ‘Book-Fair’ was arranged by NBT in collaboration with North-East Children Book Fair Committee, Nagaon and All Assam Publishers & Book-sellers Association in addition to District Administration, Nagaon. Formally, the book-fair was inuagrated by Sri Rongbong Terang, President, Assam Sahitya Sabha. The occasion was graced by Sri Rockybul Hussain, Minister, Tourism, Forest & Environment and Dr J Balaji, Dy Commissioner, Nagaon, Sri Himangshu Sekhar Das, Principal Secretary, Finanace and Tourism and Sri Nitin Gogoi, SP, Nagaon were also present on this inaugural event.



Later, cultural program was organized by many budding talent at nearby Laxmi Prasad Open Auditorium within the Nehru Bali field and the whole cultural events were compared by duo Kaustav- Sushmita Khoun.

The people of Nagaon recently witnessed a cultural evening on Sunday, July 19, which is purely an extravaganza offering mix of song, music, dance and play i.e; a complete cultural show encashing all form of arts in one. Most of the roads connecting Nagaon with Jagi Road, Dimapur, Tezpur are in such a dire state that travelling through these are becoming to be real nightmare for citizens. The condition of NH, SH as well as inner roads in the city is dipplated so much that two-wheeler riders are mostly who are suffering injury on account of it.
