Workshop on Journalism held at Gauhati University

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Academic Staff College, Gauhati University on September 20. The workshop was organized by the Dept of Communication and Journalism of G U and Kamrup District Journalists’ Association. The welcome speech was given by Dr Abhijit Bora, Head of the Dept of Communication and Journalism, GU. Mr. Bijoy Sankar Bora special correspondent of The Tribune (Chandigarh), Ghy and Dilip Chandan, editor of the Asom Bani delivered their lecture about ‘Reporting Offbeat and Development Stories’ , ‘Identifying and Cultivating News Sources’ respectively. Paresh Baishya, president of Kamrup District Journalists’ Association gave his lecture on the topic ‘Reporting legal matters and the RTI act’. After the distribution of certificates, the workshop came to an end. Many reporters from various newspaper participated on the workshop.

Enjoy traditional ‘Bhapot Diya Mach’ – an Assamese delicacy This is a very famous dish from Assam. It’s easy to cook & saves your time as well.Ingredients:-.500gm. of fish (cut into pieces).3 tbsp mustard paste.2-3 green chillies.1 tsp red chilli pd .1 1/2 tsp turmeric pd.2 tsp oil.salt, pepper (to taste)Method:-Mix all ingredients (expect Fish, Oil & Green chilli). Put fish into this mixture for 1/2an hour. In a microwave safe bowl add oil & green chillies and put in the microwave for 1 min at 100% power. Now add marinated Fish into it and put in the microwave state (covered) at 80% power for 6-7 min. Serve hot with boiled rice. Yum!
