Jim Ankan Deka, becomes the first Assamese to open a music institution and a production house in Bangalore, India. Eastern Fare Music Foundation had its origination in 2007. Presently the foundation has six institutions and two recording studios. While Jim is the proprietor, two of his friends Mr Anand PM from Kerala and Miss Parmita Borah from Assam help him in running the show. So far the institution has over 400 students with six full and part time teachers. They teach mainly Guitar, Keyboard and Piano in Western Classical Style. Their students sit for Trinity exams.
Jim Ankan Deka is the son of the celebrated Assamese litterateur and economist Late Bhabananda Deka and poet Nalini Prabha Deka. Jim has been composing and arranging Music since his childhood. So far he has arranged music for various Films, Music Albums, Jingles, Video Games, Documentaries and TV Series in an array of languages including Assamese, Hindi, English, Kannada, Nagamese and Mizo. He has had a stint with "Goalporia Folk Songs" as well. He has nine albums till date and is working on three albums in Kannada, English and Assamese language.
Eastern Fare Studio has been helping the upcoming bands with the recording and promotion. They have two four piece and five piece bands in Bangalore consist of students of Eastern Fare who play retro and classic rock music in different clubs and resorts. Jim Ankan himself has a band named 'Veenar' with the renowned Kannada musician Suchethan Rangaswami who are working on their debut album to be released in November this year.

The 9th Rongtheang Fest’2011 was held on October 28 and 29, 2011 at Serhongkup, Rongtheang, Diphu. The event was a big success and concluded with a peaceful note. A bike expedition under the slogan of 'Be Indian, Be United, Be in Peace', flagged off from Tuipang of Mizoram for 'India's East to West Green Belt Bike Expedition 2011 passed the state recently. The expedition organised by Sky High Adventures Club of Rajkot in Gujarat, arrived at Dhupdhara in Goalpara District on November 1 and it left for Siliguri after a brief halt. Noted stage actor Kamala Rabha passed away after a prolonged illness at his own residence at Sakhati in Kamrup district on Friday, November 4. He was 65. His death was deeply condoled by various organisations and persons in Kamrup and Goalpara district. Born in 1946, he started his acting career in local drama groups. And later he joined several leading theatre groups of the state and involved for three decades. As an actor he first joined the Theater Bhagyadevi and then Kohinoor Theater, Meghali Theater, Anuradha Theater, Aashirwad Theater and many more. NDFB on Friday makes it clear that the peace initiative with the government won’t proceed unless and until chairman Ranjan Daimary is released immediately.

A senior police officer had a narrow escape at a shoot out in Sivasagar on Friday. But his body guard sustained bullet injured in the incident.

ULFA’s anti-talk faction threatens to launch massive strike Assam. In an email statement sent to www.assamtimes.org ULFA’s publicity wing manager Arunodoy Dohotia said urged the common people to avoid the police stations and the security forces. Dohotia said they would target the security forces deployed to flush out the insurgent outfit.

In yet another bizarre incident, a young girl who was believed to have died a couple of days ago surfaced in a police station on Friday. It took place in Nagaon district. Nineteen-year-old Indrani Bora vanished with her boy friend Mukut Ali from Guwahati to Dhubri district on October 17. She was presumed to have kidnapped and killed.

Nearly 20% journalists were detected with high sugar and blood pressure during a health check up camp organized by GNRC Hospitals at Guwahati Press Club today (Oct 29,2011). Over 100 member-journalists and other individuals participated in the camp which was inaugurated by eminent actor Pranjal Saikia. The inaugural ceremony was also graced by Br NC Borah, CMD of GNRC Hospitals.
