Pre-cancerous lesions found among 20% patients

A total of 80 patients were seen in a free cancer detection camp held at Sanjevani Hospital in which 20% was found to have pre cancerous lesions and two patients was detected cancer in the oral cavity. The camp was held recently in the Department of E..N.T. headed by senior consultant Dr. Bhaben Choudhury. Dr. Choudhury said that the incidence of cancer in oral cavity in Assam increased due to consumption of various forms of tobacco. He appealed to the masses to avoid all form of tobacco which are very injurious to the health. In this connection Sanjevani Hospital already started awareness campaign in various parts of the state.
