Congress assures security to non Bodos in BTAD

Poll campaign is hotting up in the 65 Kalaigaon LAC under 8 Mangaldoi HPC and hectic political activities could be seen among party workers as well as general voters in the constituency. Congress candidate Madhab Rajbongshi, BPF candidate Dina Nath Das and AUDF candidate Badiuj Zaman have been visiting voters at various places of Kalaigaon LAC. All the three candidates have been busy accusing each other for misleading the people.

Madhab Rajbongshi, who had been MP on two occasions earlier addressed party workers and voters at a public meeting at Kalaigaon on March 27. This was his first election rally in Kalaigaon LAC. He hit out hard at BJP and its candidate Ramen Deka, saying that people of Mangaldoi would never support BJP as Deka had never been interested with the problems of Mangaldoi. He strongly declared that the Congress alone could guarantee safeguards to non-Bodo people in BTAD. Speaking about the stable economy under UPA government, he said that economy of most of the developed countries of the world had collapsed, while the Indian economy was still stable. He also said the AUDF was never a factor for Congress and the coming Lok Sabha polls would teach AUDF a lesson. Several Congess leaders including Koch Rajbongshi leader, Bireswar Saikia, district Congress general secretary Kandarpa Kalita and congress leader Mukul Saikia etc attended the election rally. Rajbongshi also attended another election rally at Balipota.

On the other hand, AUDF candidate for 8 Mangaldoi HPC, Badiuj Zaman attacked the Congress candidate Madhab Rajbongshi, while inaugurating an AUDF party election office at Singrimari, Kalaigaon. He also reminded Rajbongshi that his security money was forfeited in the last Assembly polls in Kalaigaon LAC. According to him, his main opponent would be BPF, not Congress. He declared that, if voted to power AUDF would try to sign an extradition treaty with Bangladesh so as to curb insurgency in NE from Bangladesh. The AUDF candidate, while meeting the press, condemned the recent killing of journalists in the State and demanded immediate resignation of Tarun Gogoi for his failure to book the killers of Anil Mazumdar
