More than 75 houses were left ravaged as a devastating fire broke out at the Paltanbazar based police reserve in Guwahati on Monday morning.
According to information, the incident took place at around 9 in the morning following an electric short circuit. There is no report of any injury in the fire but it reduced to ashes properties lakhs of rupees. It is alleged that the electrical appliances have been lying without any repair for the last several years.
In yet another incident in the wee hours, Manish Jain, a medicine dealer grievously beaten up by the local residents in Shantipur in Guwahati charging him with deliberately setting on fire his goodwon as the goodwon contained some spurious medicines.

Five security personnel guarding Water Resources Minister Rajib Lochan Pegu have been injured when their vehicle collided with a dumper truck at Golaghat on Saturday. The incident took place on the National Highway 37 near Dergaon when Pegu’s convoy was on its way from Jorhat to Guwahati. The driver is understood to have lost control over the pilot car before it rammed into the dumper truck. Three of whom are stated to be in serious condition. Dispur is contemplating an education and employment generation panel to link up the two so that the youth could get jobs with their education. According to chief minister Tarun Gogoi, said economic development of the state, education, employment generation and farmers were its top priorities.
