The newly formed Third Front is riddled with simmering discontent as it has completed the seat sharing deal for 9 seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The crack among the constituents comes up clearly as the Asom United Democratic Front (AUDF) is demanding a few vital Lok Sabha seats violating the norms.
CPI-M is miffed at AUDF president Badruddin Ajmal's announcement that he will be the Third Front candidates from the Barak valley seat. According to the senior CPIM leaders, its a gross violation of the agreed norms they cleared before the formation of the third front. The four constituents agreed to field mutually acceptable candidates in 9 of the 14 parliamentary seats. The front is meeting on Tuesday again to finalise the remaining 5 seats. There is indication that Ajmal sticks to the gun on the Silchar seat even the CPIM leaders are not ready to go with it.
The Third Front opposing Congress and BJP came up after AGP struck poll deal with BJP.
It may be noted that the bickering started at the very beginning forcing a delayed seat sharing deal among the constituents.
