A Chinese handgrenade was found lying at the residence of Chingai constituency MLA Khasim Ruiva early morning on Tuesday. The grenade was found by some family members inside the gate of his house located at Nagaram, Imphal East. A Manipur police bomb expert team rushed to the spot to retrieve the grenade and, later disposed it off at a open place at Lamphelpat area in Imphal West at around 11 AM, according to a police source.
At last Bokakhat police stepped in to rein in MLA Jiten Gogoi. Police on Tuesday arrested Gogoi in connection with the case No 64/2011 where he was charged with assaulting a woman and her family members. An uneasy situation is prevailing in Ledo following grenade attack at the residence of a local Congress leader. According to information, miscreants hurled a grenade at the residence of Badal Dutta at around 8 in the evening on Sunday. A 12- year- old boy died when he was knocked down by a truck on Saturday at Thoubal parking, Thoubal district in Manipur, police said on Sunday.
