In a dramatic turn of events following the Indian Army’s drone and missile strikes on ULFA (Independent) camps in Myanmar, the militant outfit has now claimed that Prodip Axom, earlier reported dead, has survived and been rescued. The strikes, which reportedly killed senior ULFA-I members including Ganesh Axom and initially, Prodip Axom, had sent shockwaves through their hometown of Hauphau village in Charaideo district.
The latest statement from ULFA-I has brought a wave of relief to Prodip’s family. His younger brother, speaking from their home under Sonari Police Station, has appealed to Prodip to return home safely and reunite with the family.
