Cycle Rally to Create Awareness on Elimination of Tuberculosis

A cyclothon for TB mukt Bharat awareness programme was held in Kokrajhar today to create awareness about the disease among the society.

The awareness programme was organised by the District Health Society of Kokrajhar, with the slogan "TB will defeat the nation’ and emphasised on creating a TB-free environment among citizens.

Hundreds of people attended the TB rally from various corners of the district. Members from the health department, NGO members, CRPF jawans and other members shouted slogans like “Harega Desh Jeetega,” “Pagli Pili Hai Jana Pila Bana Lo” and “Jab Tak Hai Thakur Tab Tak Hain Thakur.”

Kokrajhar Municipality Board Chairperson Pratibha Brahma and Joint Director of Health Services Kokrajhar Dr Jahirul Ahmed flagged off a rally that began at Kokrajhar Government HS and MP School Playground, traversing along the flyover, and concluding back on JD Road.

 BTR executive member for Health department, Arup Kumar Dey took part in the rally on a bicycle.

Dey said the health department had been working to extend health services to citizens in BTR districts and today carried out a cycle rally that saw good participation. He opined that BTR government was committed to work for the welfare and development of the citizens to eliminate TB and other diseases.

D.C. Kokrajhar Varnali Deka, doctors and nurses from the health department participated in the event.

Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region.
