Inferno guts six houses

TANGLA: A  devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.

Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of  six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs  to the ground  within minutes.

The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

"We lost all our belongings including educational certificates of my daughter"said Sankar Basfor.

According to sources, properties worth around thirty lakhs was destroyed in the fire.

"The fire tenders from Tangla and Khoirabari doused the fire within minutes or else the devastation would have been massive."said Vice Chairman of Tangla Municipal Board,Sankar Sarkar . Tangla Municipal Board also distributed ration and clothes to the victim families. Paneri MLA ,Kamali Basumatari also visited the families and assured of financial assistance.

However no was  injured in the incident.

Six nabbed with ganja and liquor

The SSB jawans of 61 battalion nabbed six persons with 340 kg ganja (cannabis) and 251 bottles of liquor from the Arunachal- Assam border jungle area on Sunday. They have also seized a Wagon R car (AS-27, 6492) when they found the 251 bottles of liquor being taken illegally. Ransai Daimari (19) and Topeswar Kisan (35) of Pathakpur, Majbat were nabbed from the forest areas of Dhansiri Tea Estate with 230 kg ganja. Prize Money Open Badmimton Championship held

The 3rd Prize Money Open Badminton Championship (Mens Doubles) was organised on Feb 5 & Feb 6 by Tangla Badminton Association at the Association's playground behind the BSNL office premises.There were participants from Rangia, Rowta, Guwahati Dhemaji, Alipurduar (West Bengal). Bathou Mahasabha at Harisinga

The Udalguri district committee of All Bathou Mahasabha is going to celebrate its four-day silver jubilee programme at Sonaisri Fwthar at Harisinga in Udalguri district from February 6 with ‘reform, confirm and prosper’ as its main theme. Anundoram Borooah Award presented at Udalguri

A total of 1,006 HSLC candidates who secured first division from among 6,058 candidates passed in the last 2015 HSLC examination under Udalguri district were presented the prestigious Anundoram Borooah Award at the Deputy Commissioner’s parade ground.
