Guwahati: Four more people have tested COVID 19 positive at Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Wednesday taking figure of positive cases to 5.
According to state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, GMCH laboratory has confirmed COVID19 positive in Jamaluddin Arshad Ali, Hazarat Ali, Nuruddin and Jonab Ali, who attended the religious function held at Nizamuddin in Delhi in mid March. Sarma said that all those who attended the congragation in the capital city have yet to arrive in thte state.
Moreover, four others who attended the congregation are suspected COVID19 positive and have been undergoing treatment in Delhi. They have been identified as Naskar Ali, Bahar Uddin, Mustafa Ali and Mahmmad Ali.
Notably, on Tuesday a 52 year old cancer patient was found positive who is undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College Hospital.

Renowned vaishnavite veteran Sonaram Chutia passed away after a brief ailment on Wednesday. Chutia died at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital at 9.15 in the evening. He was 98 and was accorded with cabinet rank 3 years back. Born on June 8 in 1915, Chutia cleared his graduation in science from Cotton College. Karimganj police on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of a youth for torturing a five-year-old girl. The five-year-old girl, who went missing on January 28 evening, was found lying in a paddy field with severe injuries near her house at Pinnagar village on January 29. Her father alleged that she was raped by the youth, who was arrested by the police on the basis of the allegation. But the youth claimed that he was asked by the girl's father to take her home but she entered a wedding function on the way and went missing from there. Security forces claimed to have killed a hardcore ULFA militant following a heavy exchange of firing in Goalpara district on Tuesday.The encounter took place in early in the morning at Khardang near Dudhnoi bordering Meghalaya where the ULFA militant was killed to be later identified as Niyar Asom.
