Former Director General of Police Kuladhar Saika elected as the President of the State’s apex literary body. The result of which were announced at Hojai Girls College Cultural Complex by Election Commiittee through Press Meet on Thursday night.
Saika got 269 votes, another person who were in the fray Surya Hazarika 74, Prahlad Chandra Tasa 88, Dr. Basant Kumar Goswami 46, Dr. Kabari Deka Hazarika 75, Dr.Jayshree Goswami Mahanta 69 and Pakhila Kalita 0.
Notably, Saika retired from the post of DGP last Year. Now he has been elected at this prestigious post. People from all walks of life are pouring in greetings on his victory.
Mrilani Devi elected as Vice-President. She got 308 votes, other person who were in fray were Padhumi Gogoi 96,Dr. Basant Kumar Sarma 152 and Rati Mohan Nath 63.
Jadhav Chandra Sarma elected as Principal Secretary. He got 323 votes, other person in fray were Devajit Bora 255 and Hirendra Kalita 36.
The followers of Jadhav Chandra Sarma shouted slogans on his winning.They expressed happiness over his win.
Total votes were 685 out of which 619 found to be valid, 15 were declared invalid, 28 were rejected due late delivery, 23 members have not casted vote.
Chief electoral officer for the Sahitya Sabha election were retired judge of Gauhati High Court Biplab Kumar Sharma, and election officers Bijan Mahajan and SP Roy.
