DNH LP school celebrates Platinum Jubilee
KOKRAJHAR: A three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration of the No.753 DN Himmatsingkha Lower Primary School, Kokrajhar has entered into second day on Saturday at its school premises. The celebration has witnessed various competitions like arts, cultural, literary etc amongst the students.
A cultural rally was also carried out to mark the grand celebration.
The school was established in 1943 to impart educational environment amongst citizens in Kokrajhar town and it's adjoining areas.
The school has been regarded as one of prominent schools in Bengali medium providing quality educational services in the region.
Presently,nearly 170 students are studying in the school.
Secretary of the Platinum Jubilee celebration committee, Souman Ganguly told that the Platinum Jubilee has been celebrating to mark its glorious 75 years in its services in educational environment in the region. He said that there are many colourful programme and activities have been taking while marking the celebration.

KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019.
Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill.
The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

KOKRAJHAR: Normal life was paralised in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) region on Tuesday due to 11-hour north east bandh called to put protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which was tabled in Lok Sabha on Monday amidst strong oppossed from different corner.

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections.
Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Young journalists from different six districts of the state- Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar participated the workshop.

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials.
There are 142 inmates including 14 minors are kept in the Kokrajhar detention center.
There are six detention centers across the state.
Mukherjee informed that his team visited the detention center reviewing health, medical condition of the inmates.
