Nine countries participate in paragliding championship

KOKRAJHAR: The first-ever Bodoland International accuracy Paragliding championship-2019 began from Monday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar district. 68 participants, including nine countries, are participating the championship.

There are 22 foreign paragliders including four women in the international championship  are from China (5), Indonesia (6), Nepal (4), Korea (5), Japan (1) and Taiwan (1). The host India have 46 participants who are coming from Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim.

Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma ceremonially flagged off the championship in presence of good numbers of spectators.

The championship is being organised by Tourism department of Bodoland Territorial Council administration to promote aero adventure in tourism sector in the Bodoland Territorial Council areas.

KOKRAJHAR: The nationwide lockdown has evoked full response in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Areas to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak across the country. District administrations have initiated strong measures to enforce the lockdown that would end by April 15. KOKRAJHAR: Around 487 persons are being kept in the six quarantine centres set up in Kokrajhar district under strict observation with proper medical check up. The centres have been set up by district administration to check those persons who are coming from neighbouring states towards Assam in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms. In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority. Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB.
