Swrang Club lifts Jatin Islary memorial football tournament trophy

KOKRAJHAR: Tarang Swrang Club, Taranguri defeated Kokrajhar Veteran Sports Club (KVSC) 2-0 in the final match of 7th edition Jatin Islary memorial running shield football tournament-2019 held on Sunday at Kokrajhar. For Swrang Club, Atul Basumatary netted first goal in the 55th minutes of second half against Kokrajhar Veteran. Robi Koch of Swrang Club scored another goal in 82nd minutes in the second half.

The memorial tournament was organised at Taranguri playground in Kokrajhar district, by Salakati sports promoters' society, Satbindw Harigaon, Kokrajhar in memory of noted footballer Jatin Islary.

Islary was former national footballer and played for state of Assam for several years and represented the Assam as well Kokrajhar Barhoongkha Athletic Club.

Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, former BTC executive member Derhasat Basumatary,retired principal Lakhsmi Nath Brahma were graced as guests on the prize distribution ceremony of the final match and handed over the prizes.
