National Wushu player faces financial hardships

KOKRAJHAR: National Wushu gold medalist Sanma Brahma of Kokrajhar district has been facing financial hardships.

A 21-year-old, Sanma Brahma of Haloadol village of Assam's Kokrajhar district is participating the 15th World Wushu Championship-2019 to be held in Shanghai of China country.

Sanma, who has so far participated in many state and national Wushu championship in his 12-year sports career and earned many medals including gold.

The world Wushu championship is taking place from October 17 with eight days programme scheduled.

Sanma Brahma has been selected as a participsnt in the Indian team and now taking coaching at Bhopal,Madhya Pradesh.The Indian team is leaving for Shanghai on October 14.

Sanma Brahma is now studying in BA third semester in Cotton College,Guwahati.

However,Sanma Brahma has been reportedly face financial crisis to participate the world championship.

Father of Sanma Brahma,Rakesh Brahma said that his family and son is facing financial hardships for participating the world championship.He said that he had approached to the BTC executive member for Sports and Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary and BTC CHD for Sports for financial assistance,but no welfare gestures received so far.He said that he had approached all concern persons for financial supports,not getting proper supports to send his son Wushu player.

He informed that the sports & youth welfare department,in a letter intimate that the department does not have available fund at present to help the Sanma for financial assistance for participating the world championship.

Brahma has prayed and made an appeal to the sports lover and well wishers to extend financial assistance to the well being of Sanma Brahma who is participating the world Wushu championship.

Villagers of the Haloadol have also appealled all Sports lover and well wishers to make some contributions for the Sanma Brahma to kind extend supports in his sports career.

CAB Row: Five protesters held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Bandh affects normal life,protesters burnt tyres on road

AGP to contest in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. National workshop concludes in Bodoland University

Social activist Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Journalisn workshop held

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Goreswar lifts BTAD-Army football premier league

KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. ABMSU demands for justice to Lafikul murder case

Review committee visits detention center

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials.
