Four held

Kokrajhar: Four persons, including a cadre of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) were arrested by security forces from different two places in Kokrajhar and Chirang district on Wednesday.

According to Police,based on a tiptop information about movement of NDFB cadres, a joint operation was launched by Gossaigaon police alongwith Army and CRPF Cobra Battalion in Auxiguri village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar disrict in the early morning and managed to arrest a cadre with arms.The cadre was identified as Rohiton Narzary (33) of Oxiguri village under Soraibil police outpost.

One 7.65 mm pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.

On further interrogation, he led to the recovery of an AK-56 rifle, one magazine and 21 rounds of ammunition, which was was hidden underground in his house. He was earlier arrested in the year 2017. His elder brother SS Sgt. Major Sandw of the militant outfit was killed in an encounter with Police in December, 2017. Further interrogation is going on.

A case is being registered with police.

In another incident,Baksa police apprehended three arms smugllers from Panbari area of Chirang district.

The operation police team was led by Baksa SP following an inputs about arms smuggling in the Panbari area under Bijni subdivision in Chirang district and able to nab three arms smugllers.However,main arm smuggling Markush Goyary is absconding.

The arrested have been identified as Antony Muchahary,Derhasat Basumatary and Mithinga Basumatary.

Police has been interogating the arrested persons.

Security forces continue its intensying operation in the area ahead assembly election. Another cadre Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) was apprehended today from Harigaon area under Kokrajhar PS. A 12-years-old youth identified as Som Soren of Santipur Ultapani was died on the spot and another received serious injured following trampled by wild elephant late last night at Ultapani along the Indo-Bhutan border area in Kokrajhar district.  According to villagers, a herd of 4 wild elephants reached the No.2 Santipur village late last night and attacked the villagers where the youth was died on the spot and another received serious injured. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, who is also BPF president reacting to the NDFB-S remarks of note to vote for BJP and AGP in the ensuing assembly election termed that it was meaningless.  Mohilary, addressing the reporters today in Kokrajhar said that the remarks reach from the militant outfit was meaningless for the state.
